Jerry & Sandy Lugbill

Jerry and Sandy Lugbill

They have three adult children - Lisa, Elizabeth, and Nathan - each of whom lived in Albania for some time. All are university graduates and are living in the U.S. Elizabeth married Joshua Pegram in August of 2006.

Jerry has a B.A. degree in history from Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Prior to serving at ABI, his teaching experience was primarily confined to teaching Bible and social studies classes in their home school and teaching classes in their church. He was employed as a bookkeeper and office manager in a family-owned business in Archbold, Ohio, for over twenty years. Jerry and Sandy were active participants in several ministries at their local church, teaching and serving on various boards for many years. Jerry served as an elder in the local Evangelical Mennonite church and as a member of their denomination's executive committee.

When Jerry was facing a job change, he and Sandy began investigating the possibility of serving abroad as missionaries. They were encouraged by a friend who was Residential School Leader at ABI to help the office staff on a trial basis in 2000. Following this trial period, they returned to ABI, and Jerry has served as Office Manager, Assistant Director, and then Interim Director at ABI for about 5 years now.

Jerry and Sandy enjoy doing what they can to encourage and support young Albanian believers to continue growing toward maturity in their relationships with Jesus Christ and becoming better equipped to lead their churches and reach out to their communities with the gospel.

When not involved with ABI students, Jerry and Sandy are involved in ministry at the Disciples' Church in Durrės. They also enjoy contacts with other ABI staff families, Albanians, and missionary families. Playing games, watching an occasional video, and eating by the sea are other favorite pastimes.
