What can we do about this?

After painting such a gloomy picture, you may wonder what we can do to change this? Come and share Jesus! Over the last 20 years, missionaries and mission volunteers have been doing just that. Have we changed everything in the last 15 years? No, but we have begun. In these last 20 years over 10,000 people have accepted Christ as Savior and Lord. There are over 200 churches, missions and preaching points in Albania. Almost every district in Albania has an evangelical church. In 1991 there were no churches and no believers.

How did this growth happen? People like yourself came over and joined long-term missionaries on the field to share Christ. Volunteers have fed the hungry, taught English, led kids clubs, served in medical clinics, gone door to door to evangelize, facilitated Bible studies, shown the Jesus film, visited homes and made friends, all the while sharing the love of Jesus. All of this has sent a message to the Albanian people that Jesus cares about them because American Christians have come over to help. Love with a servant spirit is a powerful testimony! Lives are changed because we care!

Now the work in Albania must take a new direction. Although foreigners can do many things to bring relief for the multitudes of needs that exist here, this approach addresses primarily the symptoms of the problem. The greatest need is for Albanians to turn to Christ through the love and ministry of strong churches. Foreigners come and go, but strong churches remain and do the work year after year.
