Meet RUKIJE ALIJA
October 2008
I am Ruka Alija and come to Albanian Bible Institute on a part-time basis. This is my first year. My cousin, E.S. came to ABI last year and convinced me to come as well. I am enjoying it very much!
I came to Christ in 1996 and gradually began understanding better the word of God. I was baptized in 2000 and I have decided to serve Christ until the end of my life. I was raised in a Muslim family (Bektashi branch). In our home we respected all religions. So did I. I had heard about Jesus and had a great desire to know about him. My father said that Jesus was the greatest of the other prophets. I had a great desire to know Jesus and began to believe in him. Today I continue to believe in him and my whole family believes in him also.
In our village in Skrapar there was no church in the beginning when I began to believe in Jesus. Later we gathered together a group of people who believed in Jesus. In this group I began helping with the children. I still help with the children today, though my family now lives in Durres instead of Skrapar. I am a member of the Christian Center of Durres.
I am a student at ABI so I can learn more about the Bible and how to become a blessing to other people. I hope to lead more people to Christ and to be prepared to serve the Lord. Since coming to ABI I have learned many new things that are good for me. I have learned how to study the Bible and have started learning the Old Testament. I am learning how to be a more godly and commited person, especially to the word of the Lord.
The teachers are very good and so are their lessons. The worship and preaching on Wednesday nights is also great! I am very happy that I have chosen to come to ABI.
Student Testimony
May 30, 2010
If someone thinks his dreams will never become reality, I have a message for them. I have thought the same thing before, but recently a dream has come true for me. I have been given the chance to go to Bible school. I always wanted to go to Bible school, but it was always impossible. In those times of discouragement, I felt the Lord telling me to not this get me down and to trust him. He would make a way for me to go in his timing. I kept praying.
Soon after, I heard of ABI in Durres, which is where I now live with my family. It has been exactly the right school for me and the place God wants me. I have been coming at night since I work in a Christian day care center during the daytime hours. I have been coming for two years now.
All the courses at ABI have been very good and helped me to learn God's Word better. I now know how to defend my faith through the Bible. I have grown in my relationship with the Lord and with other people through this experience. I have changed as a result of coming here.
I have especially liked the parties and celebrations of the school for Christmas and Easter. I have also enjoyed the worship services, too, which we have on Wednesday nights.
I feel more competent to serve the Lord as a result of my time at ABI. The training has been very useful and given me confidence to serve and witness better. I recommend ABI for all who want to serve the Lord and grow in their relationship with God. God bless you!
